Job summary

Hanover Specialty Insurance is seeking an Underwriter to join our growing team. The role focuses on identifying, underwriting renewal Specialty accounts and applying advanced technical, sales and analytical skills to provide insurance solutions.

This full-time, exempt position involves managing an assigned book of high-technical complexity, coordinating with internal teams and agents to drive profitable growth and deliver value to customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years underwriting experience.
• 3+ years driving agency relationships for profitable renewal business.
• Proficient in identifying, analyzing and solving complex risks and pricing trends.
• Adaptable, proactive, and able to mentor others in underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Identify and underwrite renewal specialty accounts aligning with appetite and mix goals.
• Apply advanced underwriting concepts including risk selection, exposure, and loss analysis.
• Explain coverages and exposures to agents to support value-added propositions.
• Manage portfolio to hit gross written premium, profitability, and retention targets.
• Lead territory business planning and develop a strong pipeline for growth.
