Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, NC is seeking a Specialty Retail Pharmacy Technician I/II to join the on-site team at North Pavilion Retail Pharmacy. Under supervision, you will assist with drug procurement, preparation, distribution and store medications, while supporting clinical pharmacy services to ensure safe medication use.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program.
• Acceptance into pharmacy school.
• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or health care related experience.
• Pharmacy Tech II: Minimum of one year's related experience.
• Pharmacy Tech I: Must be registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within the first 180 days.
• Pharmacy Tech II: North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration is required. Pharmacy Technician certification is required from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).

Responsibilities

• Process prescriptions, preparation and distribution to patients under supervision.
• Restock automatic dispensing cabinets and anesthesia workstations as needed.
• Answer and screen telephone calls and direct to appropriate personnel.
• Handle medications in accordance with departmental, regulatory and legal requirements.
• Collaborate with pharmacy team, insurance companies, and customers to resolve issues.
• Assist with clinical functions in support of the clinical pharmacist (e.g., patient follow-up calls).
• Operate specialty machinery and pharmacy software; provide basic technical support.
