Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program.
• Acceptance into pharmacy school.
• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or health care related experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow workflow procedures including prescription processing, medication preparation and distribution to patient.
• Restock automatic dispensing cabinets and anesthesia workstations as needed.
• Answer and screen telephone calls and direct to appropriate personnel.
• Handle medications in accordance with department, regulatory and legal requirements.
• Collaborates with pharmacy team, insurance companies and customers to resolve issues and deliver timely resolutions.
• Assist with basic clinical functions in support of the clinical pharmacist (e.g., medication safety and adherence initiatives, patient follow up calls).
• Operate specialty machinery, equipment or software necessary in performing job functions (e.g., carousels, automated dispensing cabinets, drug delivery devices, retail pharmacy systems).
• Deliver medications and supplies to patient care areas.
• Complete safety and quality activities per procedures.
• Prepare IV solutions using aseptic technique and/or compound non-sterile medications at select locations.
• Manage responsibilities while supporting team and broader goals.
• Perform training of new employees and students.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program
