Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a Specialty Pharmacy Technician who works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. You will help prepare specialty medications, manage inventory, handle prior authorizations, and deliver excellent patient and provider service.

You will ensure compliance with HIPAA and 340B rules, coordinate with pharmacy systems, and support clinical teams through efficient operations and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training preferred.
• Current NY State Pharmacy Technician license and PTCB or NHA CPhT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare new and refill prescriptions, ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines.
• Transcribe incoming prescription orders and document within pharmacy systems.
• Assist pharmacists with compounding and preparing pharmaceuticals per protocols.
• Maintain accurate inventory, rotate stock, and store under proper conditions.
• Monitor supply levels to minimize waste and prevent stock-outs; manage purchasing to optimize costs.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, clinic staff, and providers, addressing insurance and billing questions.
• Coordinate prescription refills, delivery logistics, and updated billing information.
• Support medication adherence by monitoring refills and addressing gaps in therapy.
• Serve as primary contact for patients and clinic staff; escalate clinical questions to the on-duty pharmacist.
• Initiate and manage prior authorizations and track expirations/renewals.
• Review claims and denials to determine follow-up; ensure timely resolution for continuity of care.
• Manage daily billing operations and POS patient payments.
• Ensure HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid billing compliance and 340B pricing adherence.
