Westchester Medical Center is seeking a Specialty / Retail Pharmacy Technician to work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The role focuses on timely, accurate dispensation of specialty medications, inventory control, prior authorizations, and strong patient service in a compliant environment.

You will prepare prescriptions, manage documentation, assist in compounding, and ensure proper inventory and billing processes while collaborating with healthcare providers and clinic

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training preferred.
• Current licensure as a New York State Registered Pharmacy Technician and active PTCB or NHA CPhT certification is required.

Responsabilités

• Accurately prepare new and refill prescriptions, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Transcribe incoming prescription orders and document within designated pharmacy systems.
• Assist pharmacists with compounding and preparing pharmaceuticals according to established protocols.
• Maintain accurate inventory management, rotating stock and storing under appropriate conditions.
• Monitor supply levels to minimize waste, prevent stock-outs, and manage purchasing to optimize costs.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, clinic staff, and providers regarding insurance coverage, billing, and patient costs.
• Coordinate prescription refills and delivery logistics, and update billing information.
• Support medication adherence by monitoring refills and addressing gaps in therapy.
• Escalate clinical questions to the pharmacist on duty as needed.
• Initiate and manage prior authorization requests and track expiring authorizations and renewals.
• Review claims and rejections for follow-up and ensure timely resolution.
• Handle daily billing operations including claims submission and POS transactions.
• Ensure HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid billing compliance, and 340B program adherence.
• Document all activities in designated pharmacy systems.
