Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in the United States is seeking a Specialty Prescription Coordinator who will manage prescription order entry, verify insurance, adjudicate claims, and coordinate prior authorization, while delivering excellent patient and provider service.

You will review patient profiles, schedule new prescriptions and refills, collect essential clinical information, and work with pharmacy staff to ensure timely, accurate dispensing in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Licenses/ Certifications: Licensed as a registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist Intern in the State of Texas.
• Three (3) years experience in specialty, retail, mail order, or hospital pharmacy.
• Two (2) years experience in insurance verification, benefits, and eligibility investigations.
• Demonstrated attention to detail in communicating with patients and healthcare providers on the phone.
• Ability to work independently while handling multiple daily tasks.
• Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology and patient assistance programs.
• Experience in customer service with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience in specialty pharmacy or pharmacy benefit management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Enters prescriptions and processes claims for new/refill prescriptions.
• Clarifies prescription orders with pharmacist or clinician as appropriate.
• Conducts insurance benefit investigations and communicates with patients and providers.
• Troubleshoots billing rejections and rebills claims with carriers.
• Submits prior authorization requests and tracks approvals.
• Processes payments and assists patients with forms of financial assistance.
• Provides customer service to schedule medication delivery and tracks shipments.
• Collects clinical information for patient management and notifies staff of recalls.
• Maintains documentation in pharmacy information systems and patient records.
• Coordinates with pharmacy team to ensure timely dispensing and reports issues.
