Job summary

Blue Heron Middle School in Port Townsend, WA is seeking a 6.5-hour day paraeducator specialized in student supervision and behavior support for middle schoolers. The role focuses on supervising lunch, recess, and small groups, ensuring safety and positive student experiences.

The ideal candidate meets ESSA qualified requirements and may hold two years of college or an associate degree, or have passed the ParaPro test.

Qualifications

• Two years of college or an Associate’s degree or higher; or have passed the ParaPro Assessment Test.
• Ability to maintain safety and order in lunchroom, playground, hallways and outdoor areas.
• Collaborate with supervisory teams to ensure safety and positive student experiences.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and teachers.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of students at lunch, recess, and in small groups; duties include lunchroom, playground, bus, hall, and other supervision tasks.
• Arrive on time to duty area and collaborate with other staff on duty.
• Develop positive relationships with students; engage in good behavior and Redirect as necessary.
• Assist students and report concerns to the building Principal.
• Assist in keeping school areas clean and tidy.
• Remain with supervision area until students are accounted for or dismissed.
• Assist office staff with clerical duties when supervision is not needed.
• Assist teachers in classrooms with students and instruction.
• Perform other student assistance duties as assigned.
