Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current first aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.
• Para educators shall be highly qualified upon hire into a continuing position.
• Completed at least 2 years of study totaling 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher; OR
• Obtained an associates degree; OR
• Passed the ParaPro Praxis Assessment (455) or Master Teacher Assessments; OR
• Completed and passed the Pearson Paraprofessional assessment; OR
• Completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator in a registered program.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic student supervision ensuring general behavioral expectations are met.
• Maintain safety, decorum, and order in common areas (cafeteria, playground, hallways, etc.).
• Provide instructional support in small or large groups as needed.
• Assist teachers with instructional tasks such as observing, recording data, and preparing materials.
• Follow plans and procedures set by administrator or certificated staff.
