Our **Tanner, AL** location is an integrated mill manufacturing high-quality premium and ultra-premium forged bar and billet products from melt to ship. **SPECIALIST II – LEAN MANUFACTURING (Athens, North)****PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE SPECIALIST II – LEAN MANUFACTURING*** Implement improvements to the production process flow.* Recommend hands-on process improvements using a combination of Lean Manufacturing tools with a focus towards optimizing labor resources and systems, flow creation, 5S and waste reduction.* Improve existing operations for increased safety, quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings.* Support value stream mapping and kaizen events.* Lead Problem Solving to root cause and recommend or implement corrective actions.* Provides manufacturing or other data to assist in the creation of control charts, identify process capabilities, areas to focus or to create KPI’s or targets to measure progress.* Assist in identifying ways to reduce production inefficiencies through recommendations – new processes, elimination of waste, machinery enhancements, process improvements.* Aid with development and documentation of KPI’s and systems designed to sustain and drive continuous improvement using Carpenters Operating Model.* Ability to travel 25% to other locations within a specified region.* Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.**REQUIRED FOR THE SPECIALIST II – LEAN MANUFACTURING*** BA/BS degree in Engineering, Project Management or related field preferred, plus 3+ years of successful lean implementation experience with proven record of sustainable results OR · High School Diploma required, plus 5+ years of relevant lean implementation experience required.* Successful candidates will have prior knowledge and practical experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting with a strong focus on Lean Manufacturing operations.* Extensive experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is preferred.* Extensive job-related experience with LEAN manufacturing tools and methods.* Proven ability to drive continuous improvement by identifying and eliminating waste using applicable tools and analysis.* Proven coaching, facilitation and organizational skills with a track record of successful change management.* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.* Must be proactive, creative, and a hands-on change agent.* Should have team building and rapid execution abilities.* Self-motivated and ability to “think on your feet” when working and a “can do” approach to work.* Self-Starter who can creatively drive continuous improvement on their own initiative with guidance as necessary.* Strong analytical, mathematical, computer and basic business skills.
