Job summary

KPFF Special Projects Division is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to join our Seattle or Tacoma offices. You will work within a dynamic team delivering civil, structural, and mechanical engineering for heavy civil and waterfront projects.

Candidates should have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, be EIT certified, and proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Revit. The role supports collaboration with clients and interdisciplinary teams in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required.
• EIT is required.
• Exposure to project engineering and project management.
• Strong knowledge of machine design, statics, dynamics, kinematics, fluid mechanics, and strength of materials.
• Familiarity with FEA, weldment design, bearings/pins, and hydraulic/power systems.
• Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Revit.

Responsibilities

• Work on mechanical engineering for heavy civil, structural, industrial and waterfront projects.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients across Seattle and Tacoma sites.
• Contribute to design calculations, drawings, and documentation for machine systems.
• Support field observations, site visits, and project management activities.
