Job summary

City of Great Falls Police Department seeks a sworn Special Officer responsible for customer service, data entry, and case creation to support departmental needs. The role reports to the Records Bureau Manager within the Police Department.

The position focuses on online crime reports, offender registrations, front-counter service, and miscellaneous duties including fingerprints, notary services, and subpoenas. A valid Montana driver’s license and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience dealing with the public is desired.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process online crime reports, write and review evidence, and prepare citations.
• Register new sexual/violent offenders, collect DNA, fingerprints, and photos, and update RMS/MSR.
• Operate the front counter and answer phones, directing requests for law enforcement services.
• Perform fingerprints, notary services, background checks, and VIN inspections; serve subpoenas when required.
