Job summary

Easterseals is seeking a classroom assistant to support teachers in various programs from kindergarten through 22-year-olds with behavioral modification needs. You will help implement daily lesson plans, prepare materials, assist with student care, and supervise students in a safe, educational environment in Sarasota, FL.

Responsibilities include minor classroom management, driving school buses as assigned, and upholding Easterseals policies with professionalism and empathy.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of classroom experience with behavioral modification preferred.
• Credentials: Must have a valid Driver’s License. CPR/First Aid preferable but training can be provided; background check and drug screen required.

To assist the classroom teacher in the direct care and supervision of the students in the classroom, in a safe, clean, and educationally stimulating environment Multiple positions are available ranging from kindergarten through 22 years old. Classroom options range from academic, life skills, and vocational programs. Placement based on experience.

• Assist teacher in the implementation of daily lesson plans.
• Prepare classroom materials.
• Assist with the overall care of the students in the assigned classroom including toileting and other personal hygiene as needed.
• Assist the teacher in classroom management including providing individualized instruction as needed, to individual students or small groups.
• Drive school buses as assigned in a safe and timely manner.
• Behavior management. Comply with Easterseals policies and procedures utilizing the highest standards of personal and professional ethics and behavior.
• Demonstrate good judgment, diplomacy, courtesy, and effective communication while working at Easterseals or when representing the organization.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
