Job summary

Easterseals Southwest Florida in Sarasota, FL is seeking classroom aides to support teachers in safe, engaging classrooms for students ranging from kindergarten through early teens. You will assist with daily lesson plans, supervise students, and help with personal care as needed.

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and background checks. CPR/First Aid is preferred, and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED. Some college preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of classroom experience working with persons with behavioral modification preferred.
• Credentials: Must have a valid Driver’s License. CPR/First Aid Certification is preferable but will train to obtain certification.
• All employees must pass a background screening and drug test for employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in the implementation of daily lesson plans.
• Prepare classroom materials.
• Assist with the overall care of the students in the assigned classroom including toileting and other personal hygiene as needed.
• Assist the teacher in classroom management including providing individualized instruction as needed, to individual students or small groups.
• Drive school buses as assigned in a safe and timely manner.
• Behavior management
• Comply with Easterseals policies and procedures utilizing the highest standards of personal and professional ethics and behavior.
• Demonstrate good judgment, diplomacy, courtesy, and effective communication while working at Easterseals or when representing the organization.
• Other duties as assigned.

Multiple positions are available ranging from kindergarten through 22 years old. Classroom options range from academic, life skills, and vocational programs. Placement based on experience.
