Job summary

Cherry Creek School District is seeking a Bus Assistant to support students with special needs during bus rides, ensuring a safe, courteous, and service-oriented experience for students and families.

The role involves assisting with entering/exiting, securing wheelchairs, and following safety protocols. Candidates must pass a background check, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and obtain CPR/First Aid within 90 days. Training and certifications are provided.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
• No professional work experience required.
• CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• 1. Consistently monitor students with varying special needs during the bus ride and take safety steps as needed.
• 2. Provide emotional and behavioral support and assist students with entering/exiting the bus, securing, and related tasks.
• 3. Safely secure wheelchairs on board and adjust safety restraints as required.
• 4. Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections with the bus driver.
• 5. Communicate student information to the bus driver and guardians; maintain emergency records.
• 6. Collaborate with the bus driver on emergency evacuation planning and procedures.
• 7. Maintain required certifications and participate in trainings annually.
• 8. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
