Job summary

Lexington County School District One is seeking a dedicated Bus Assistant to support the Transportation Department during the school year. Under close supervision of the transportation supervisor and the bus driver, you will promote student safety and assist students as they board and alight.

Responsibilities include monitoring student behavior, operating a wheelchair lift for disabled students, coordinating with parents, drivers and teachers, and maintaining confidentiality of information.

Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience in working with children and persons with special needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes safety of students being transported and assists students in getting on and off the bus.
• Monitors activities of students and informs drivers of behavioral issues.
• Operates a wheelchair lift to assist disabled students in getting onto and off of the bus.
• Coordinates services for special needs students with parents, bus drivers and teachers.
• Keeps confidentiality of employee and student information.
• Performs other related duties as required.
