Job summary

Williamsburg-James City County Schools Transportation is seeking a Bus Aide to support the safe transportation of pupils, including those with special needs. The role includes assisting students boarding and exiting, securing wheelchairs, and aiding the driver with route operations.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work early hours and occasional evenings. Prior experience with children and special needs is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus.
• Ensure proper seating and use of seat belts or restraints.
• Lift or assist with wheelchairs as needed.
• Maintain discipline and safety on the bus.
• Assist driver with directions and route changes.
• Keep bus clean and report incidents promptly.
