Job summary

Horry County Schools Transportation in Conway, SC is seeking a Special Needs Transportation Aide for a 6-hour position to supervise students on the bus during transport to and from school. You will assist the driver with loading and unloading and help maintain a safe, orderly environment on the vehicle.

Requirements include being 18+, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to pass the Physical Performance Test. Training and an employee uniform are provided by the district.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No CDL endorsement required.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Assist safe operation of buses.
• Ability to address the needs of special needs students.
• Successfully pass the Physical Performance Test.
• Provide a negative TB test.
• Proof of American Citizenship or Employment Authorization.

Responsibilities

• Assist bus driver in the proper loading and unloading of students.
• Establish a safe, supportive, positive and productive environment on the bus.
• Properly secure safety equipment and wheelchairs.
• Maintain a neat and clean personal appearance. Required uniform is provided.
• Documentation of student information when required.
• Report personal absences in appropriate time so the supervisor can secure a substitute.
• CPR, first aid and Diastat administration required as needed with training provided by the district.
• Maintain student discipline.
• Must be familiar with school bus braking procedures in case of an emergency.
