Job summary

Horry County Schools is seeking a Special Needs Transportation Aide for a 7.5-hour, 180-day position in the Socastee area. The role involves supervising students on the bus during transport to and from school and assisting the driver with loading and unloading.

The candidate must be at least 18, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and have strong verbal and written communication skills. CPR/First Aid and Diastat training will be provided by the district as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist bus driver in loading and unloading students.
• Establish a safe, supportive, positive environment on the bus.
• Secure safety equipment and wheelchairs.
• Maintain neat appearance; uniform provided.
• Document student information when required.
• Report absences to supervisor to secure a substitute.
• CPR, first aid and Diastat training provided by the district as needed.
• Familiarity with bus braking procedures in emergencies.
