Job description

Join to apply for the Special Events Manager role at Carnegie Museum of Art.

The Special Events Manager develops and fosters business by selling special event rentals to meet or exceed sales, site visits, and revenue goals set by the Director. Responsibilities include building client relationships, planning and executing events, managing billing and payments, and ensuring safety and compliance across all locations. The role requires providing high-level customer service, generating reports, and collaborating with other departments to enhance event success.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, hotel, or event management preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in event management or a similar client service setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and financial skills.
  • Attention to detail, multitasking ability, and customer management experience.
  • Knowledge of event software and Microsoft Office is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform physical activities like walking, sitting, and standing for long periods.
  • Flexible schedule including holidays, weekends, and evenings.
Essential Functions
  • Promote and sell venue rentals, respond promptly to inquiries, and maintain high customer service standards.
  • Manage invoicing, follow-up, and client re-engagement.
  • Assist in budget monitoring, facility maintenance, and vendor coordination.
  • Participate in outreach, events, and external exhibitions.
