Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks an internship role to train and support special education high school students with disabilities at multiple job sites, including transporting students to and from sites.

The position involves data collection, clerical support, and collaboration with staff and business partners, while ensuring safety during transportation and job activities. A VA driver's license is preferred; CDL with passenger endorsement is recommended where applicable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and behavior management techniques used with students with disabilities.
• Ability to supervise and redirect students and to work under stressful conditions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with staff, students and parents.
• Familiarity with safety procedures, CPR/First Aid awareness, and confidentiality policies.
• Understanding of local policy, best practices for exceptional education, and bus operation basics.

Responsibilities

• Train and provide support to students at job sites using task analysis and data collection.
• Collaborate with business partners to adjust tasks as needed and transport students to/from job sites.
• Perform clerical tasks including reporting, forms, and communications; maintain records.
• Act as liaison between youth and various systems; ensure safety and conduct.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and monitor vehicle safety; comply with district policies.
