Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks a dedicated school bus attendant to supervise and assist students on a special education route. You will use equipment like wheelchair lifts and securement systems, participate in drills, and enforce safety rules to ensure a safe, supportive environment for every rider.

Must complete CPR and basic first-aid courses on entry, pass required background investigations, and collaborate closely with drivers and transportation staff to provide reliable daily

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child growth and development and behavior management.
• Knowledge of CPR and basic first aid procedures.
• Ability to handle multiple children with special health needs safely.
• Ability to lift and assist children as needed.
• Ability to interpret policies and prepare basic reports.
• Ability to communicate tactfully in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist students aboard/exiting the bus using adaptive equipment.
• Maintain bus discipline and supervise student safety.
• Provide basic first-aid and health care as needed.
• Complete weekly reports on student behavior and bus activity.
• Operate and secure wheelchairs, lifts and safety devices.
• Make independent decisions within the Code of Conduct.
