Job summary

RSU 57 is seeking an Educational Technician III in Waterboro, ME to support students with special needs and assist teachers across classrooms and computer labs. The role involves instructional and non-instructional duties, including IEP input, supervision, and materials preparation.

The position operates within the Educational Technician III Bargaining Agreement and requires collaboration with school staff to maintain a conducive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications

  • Documentation of at least three years of post-secondary education or a combination equivalent to 90 hours of approved study in an educationally related field.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of the instructional process and the needs of students, including students with special needs.
  • Knowledge of emergency, health, and safety procedures preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing in-service training as requested by the Administrator and/or Director.
  • Must hold or be eligible for Maine Educational Technician III Authorization for the State of Maine and CHRC Approval Certificate.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information as required by law.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilities.
  • Prior experience in an educational setting is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning under direct supervision.
  • Assist teachers in developing strategies to reinforce materials based on students' needs.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment activities, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
  • Administer, score, and record achievement or diagnostic tests as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist students with instructional materials and equipment.
  • Provide input to the IEP process and parent conference days when requested.
  • Provide primary support for computer lab technology, troubleshooting, maintenance, and software updates.
  • Provide basic network support for staff and students.
  • Assist with maintaining the building's hardware and software inventory.
  • Prepare instructional materials including copying, typing, filing, cutting, laminating, bulletin boards.
  • Check materials in and out; shelve returned books; process and catalog new materials.
  • Assist with IEP meetings; prepare instructional materials.
  • Assist with playground/bus duties, study hall, detention, lunch supervision and other activities.
  • Assist with supervision during emergency drills, assemblies, field trips.
  • Provide escort and assistance services to students.
  • Assist students in locating materials; support library/media activities.
  • Serve as primary information resource for substitutes.
  • Introduce new learning activities pre-planned with teachers.
