Job summary

Sudbury Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Team Chair for Nixon Elementary School in Sudbury, MA. The role leads the team process, coordinates mandated procedures, chairs IEP meetings and manages records, serving as a key liaison among staff, families and external providers.

The position requires collaboration with administration and parents, and offers ongoing professional responsibilities within a prek-8 district.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree with a specialization in special education or related services preferred.
• Massachusetts certification in Special Education or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in public school direct services or related services.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all required state and federal mandated Special Education procedures for initials, re-evaluations and annual reviews.
• Chair IEP meetings, facilitate consensus among team members including parents/guardians; make timely decisions.
• Process referrals from school, parent, or agency; maintain accurate evaluation logs and timelines.
• Schedule IEP meetings with parents and staff; update leadership on special education issues.
• Serve as special education case manager and primary contact between school, home and providers.
• Engage with parents as partners and facilitate collaborative problem solving.
• Train staff on IEP preparation, process and e-Sped technology; participate in budget planning for services.
