Job summary

Sudbury Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant for Gen. John Nixon Elementary School in Sudbury, MA. The role supports students with disabilities in various settings under supervision of certified staff.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with an Associate’s degree, 48 college credits, and Parapro/WorkKeys assessment. Prior SPED experience is preferred; strong teamwork and adaptability are essential.

Qualifications

• Meets DoE guidelines for highly qualified paraprofessionals.
• High School diploma or equivalent and an Associate’s degree or higher.
• Completion of 48 credit hours at an Institution of Higher Education.
• Completion of Parapro or WorkKeys assessment.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Prior experience working with children.
• Background in special education or experience with SPED students preferred.
• Flexible attitude and ability to work well in teams.
• Responsive and able to adapt to changes in routine.

Responsibilities

• Support eligible students with disabilities in general and special education settings.
• Implement strategies and modifications as outlined in IEPs.
• Assist with supervision during non-class times (recess, lunch, breaks).
• Support adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and instructional materials.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required by the school.
• Maintain confidentiality and document student progress.
