Job summary

Marlborough Public Schools seeks a Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher (Severe Needs) for Jaworek Elementary School to support students under IEPs and data-driven instruction. This role is part of the Student Services team, working under the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Equity and the building principal.

The substitute will develop and implement IEP goals, collaborate with general education staff, and adapt instruction for diverse learners, including English

Qualifications

• Valid MA DESE licensure in Special Education for Severe or Moderate Needs.
• DESE license must cover elementary grade levels.
• Experience in a Therapeutic Learning environment preferred.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferred.
• SEI Endorsement; bilingual (Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect instructional support to students as per IEPs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of developmental levels and differentiates instruction.
• Participates in Team meetings and develops IEPs with measurable goals.
• Ensures compliance with IEPs and maintains student records.
• Delivers instruction with measurable outcomes and higher-order thinking.
• Collaborates with general education teachers to modify curricula.
• Analyzes assessment results to adjust practice and interventions.
• Collaborates with parents, agencies, and school staff.
• Shares progress with colleagues to support learning improvements.
• Provides descriptive feedback to students and families for growth.
• Maintains high expectations and fosters inclusive learning environments.
• Develops interpersonal and group skills among students from diverse backgrounds.
• Responds to conflicts arising from differences in backgrounds and identities.
• Seeks ongoing improvements from supervisors and professional activities.
• Collaborates on standards-based units and data-driven planning.
• protects student confidentiality and demonstrates integrity.
