Job summary

Salem City School District is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (Multiple Disabilities) for an anticipated November 2026 opening. The role requires NJ instructional certification with a Special Education endorsement or eligibility, plus the ability to develop individualized plans and collaborate with regular teachers.

A 10-month term governs this position under the Teachers Association contract.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey instructional certification with Special Education endorsement or eligibility.
• Minimum experience as determined by the board.
• Demonstrates knowledge of effective teaching methods and ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction to classified pupils in accordance with each pupil's IEP.
• Develops lesson plans and materials; provides individualized and small group instruction.
• Sets objectives in lesson prep and weekly plans; executes the plan to achieve them.
• Cooperates with regular education staff to coordinate instruction and monitor progress.
• Maintains records of pupil progress and summarizes marks for reports.
