Job summary

Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the department. The ideal candidate is licensed in Moderate Disabilities and may hold dual licensure in Mathematics or Science, with bilingual abilities considered a plus.

The role involves collaborating with general educators, managing up to 25 students with disabilities, and developing IEPs and related assessments. Strong communication with families and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• DESE licensure required for Moderate Disabilities (5-12).
• Dual licensure in MD and Math or Science preferred.
• Bilingual ability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate instruction, with general education teacher, to meet the needs of students with disabilities and provide access to the general education curriculum.
• Document student performance, behavior, and achievement within the general education setting.
• Manage a caseload of up to 25 special education students.
• Provide reinforcement of new concepts; support students in completing tasks.
• Collaborate on classroom accommodations, modifications, teaching strategies, and assessments.
• Demonstrate knowledge of students' IEPs and needed accommodations for success.
• Develop resources for students (word banks, graphic organizers, notes).
• Modify assignments, tests and quizzes as required.
• Participate in Special Education Team meetings; develop IEPs and goals.
• Complete academic achievement testing evaluations and write reports.

Education

Licensure by DESE as a Teacher of Moderate Disabilities (5-12)

Dual licensed in Moderate Disabilities and Mathematics or Science (preferred)

Bilingual (preferred)
