Denver Public Schools is seeking a dedicated teacher to lead a self-contained classroom for students with autism spectrum disorders. You will develop inclusive lesson plans, coordinate with paraprofessionals, and integrate medical, educational, and psychological needs to help students meet standards.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
• Master’s Degree is required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
• Valid Colorado Department of Education teaching license (DPS accepts CDE Application Receipt for 90 days).
• ELA-S Only: bilingual in Spanish and English; Spanish language proficiency exam required; Praxis II option accepted if score 163+.

Responsabilidades

• Assesses and develops inclusive settings with typical peers to support educational, behavioral, social-emotional, physical, and daily living needs of students.
• Supervises and assigns duties to classroom paraprofessionals and hospital volunteer support.
• Attends hospital orientation and other required staff trainings.
• Develops and executes individualized lesson plans aligned with curriculum guidelines.
• Administers and interprets formal and informal assessments; maintains IEPs.
• Monitors and enforces conduct; reinforces positive behaviors per district policy.
• Observes and records student progress and prepares reports for administrators.
• Sets clear objectives and uses varied teaching methods to reach students.
• Prepares, administers, grades tests, and reports grades in district software.
• Communicates with parents/ guardians and staff to resolve student issues.
• May participate in extra-duty activities per bargaining agreement (coaching, tutoring, or summer programs).
