Job summary

Denver Public Schools seeks a dedicated Special Education teacher to support students with disabilities across a range of needs. The role emphasizes adapting lessons to district standards and providing individualized instruction to help all learners thrive.

The position requires a valid Colorado teaching license and a Bachelor’s in Education or related field. Experience with diverse student populations is preferred, with opportunities for growth and involvement in district initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
  • A Master’s Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
  • Valid Colorado Department of Education teaching license.
  • Experience working with young special needs students and their parents preferred.
  • Experience serving diverse student populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes individualized lesson plans across subject areas.
  • Administers and interprets formal and informal assessments.
  • Monitors and enforces conduct and behavior per district policy.
  • Prepares and adapts lessons to meet varying needs and interests.
  • Provides daily living support and assists with adaptive technology and equipment.
  • May participate in extra-duty activities per the bargaining agreement.
