Job summary

The Public Schools of Northborough-Southborough seek a Special Education Teacher for a long-term substitute at Woodward Elementary School in Southborough, MA. The teacher will implement IEPs, provide direct services and collaborate with related services staff and families.

Reports to Principal/Assistant Principal and Student Support Services; expected to maintain compliance with IDEA and district requirements during the assignment.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts DESE licensure in special education (moderate disabilities) required.
• Prior successful classroom teaching experiences preferred.
• Strong communication, planning and organizational skills; ability to motivate others.
• Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and a range of assessment methods.
• Experience with core, supplemental and intervention programs.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe functional learning environment.
• Identify students’ needs and collaborate with staff on data assessment and intervention.
• Assess and monitor academic growth to guide instruction and document progress.
• Provide targeted instruction and support as part of IEP implementation.
• Participate in district-wide curriculum work and data teams.
• Engage in regular IEP meetings and clinic meetings as needed.
• Utilize instructional technology to enhance learning and record-keeping.
