Qualifications

• Valid Maine DOE Child with Disabilities K-8 certification at application time.
• Background check (CHRC) clearance required at application.
• Experience with students with a range of disabilities.
• Mandt training or ability to obtain.
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, assessment methods, and evidence-based instruction.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum.
• Proficiency in using technology for instruction and record-keeping.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Promote an inclusive culture and equity within the school.
• Lead IEP development, reevaluations, and documentation per IDEA/state regulations.
• Serve as the IEP case-manager, ensuring data-driven services.
• Coordinate services for students with complex needs and embed life skills.
• Conduct frequent progress assessments to monitor interventions.
• Collaborate with families for active planning and input.
• Partner with general education teachers to co-plan and co-teach.
• Adapt lessons to ensure core curriculum is accessible for all learners.
• Support paraprofessionals through guidance and training.
