Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a Special Education teacher (K-12) for a 0.6 FTE position, starting as soon as possible. The role requires a valid WA teaching certificate and a Special Education endorsement, with compensation based on the TEA contract, ranging from $75,462 to $147,998 per year.

The teacher will plan, organize, and provide engaging learning activities, assess student growth, and collaborate with district specialists to support student achievement across the curriculum.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with Special Education endorsement is required.
• Washington State teaching certificate is required.
• Experience in K-12 special education is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and delivers instruction based on students' needs and abilities; creates a conducive learning environment.
• Regularly assesses student growth and communicates progress to stakeholders.
• Implements district education goals and policies; maintains classroom behavior and discipline.
• Prepares differentiated lesson plans and aligns objectives with curriculum goals.
• Maintains open communication with students, parents, and staff; engages families in conferences.
• Keeps accurate records and uses data to adjust instruction and support.
• Supervises and supports staff and volunteers as needed.
