Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a teacher for a 1.0 FTE position starting as soon as possible. The role requires a Washington State teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement, and compensation ranges from $75,462 to $147,998 based on preparation level and experience.

The position includes full benefits, 182 workdays per year, and the standard duties of planning, instruction, assessment, and collaboration to support student achievement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with appropriate educational endorsement; or equivalent experience and training.
• Valid Washington State teaching certificate.
• Special Education endorsement required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize instruction based on student needs and use varied instructional methods.
• Assess student progress and report grades; refer for evaluations as needed.
• Support district curriculum and policies; contribute to school program planning and development.
• Prepare lesson plans and provide differentiated instruction with clear objectives.
• Maintain open communication with students, parents, and staff; conduct conferences as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and use data to adjust instruction and track growth.
• Ensure student safety and supervise activities in and around the classroom.
• Participate in professional development and school committees.
• Uphold school board policies and professional ethics.
