Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking educators for a full-time position that starts as soon as possible. The role requires a WA teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement and a preparation level compatible with the TEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The salary ranges from $75,462 to $147,998, based on degree and experience, with benefits for 182 workdays in a 10-month calendar. The ideal candidate will design engaging, standards-aligned lessons, differentiate instruction, assess

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with appropriate educational endorsement; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.

Responsibilities

• Develops, plans and strategizes a program of study based on learner needs and district curriculum; creates a conducive classroom environment.
• Assesses student growth regularly and provides progress reports; maintains grades reflecting achievement; guides student welfare and development.
• Implements district education philosophy and policies; supports classroom management and district curricula; plans school program evaluation.
• Prepares differentiated lesson plans with clear objectives; aligns materials and tasks to learning targets; uses varied instructional methods.
• Maintains open communication lines with students, parents, colleagues and community; conducts conferences and meetings to discuss progress and program rationale.
• Maintains accurate records as required; uses formative and summative assessments to guide instruction; tracks student growth with rubrics.
• Ensures student safety; supervises students in various settings; utilizes community resources to enrich learning.
• Attends staff meetings and participates in committees; supports colleagues and contributes to district guidelines.
