Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GCPS AKS curriculum and content in field of certification.
• Ability to integrate curriculum with GCPS policies and effective instructional practices.
• Understanding of the teaching/learning process.
• Ability to infuse technology into instruction to increase student learning.
• Ability to work with administrators, colleagues, central office, staff, students, parents, and community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
• Exemplary teaching and diagnostic assessment skills.
• Mastery of subject area.
• Knowledge of IDEIA and due process.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide learning experiences based on AKS curriculum and foster development across intellectual, physical, social, and emotional domains.
• Demonstrate command of the subject and provide direct or specially designed instruction per IEP.
• Consult with teachers/administrators to develop academic and behavioral programs.
• Participate as a regular faculty member and support school duties.
• Lead in-service programs on special education and IDEIA.
• Collaborate with regular educators to support students with disabilities in general classrooms.
• Develop long- and short-term instructional objectives aligned with AKS.
• Plan instruction to achieve mastery of prerequisites and knowledge.
• Evaluate, select, and modify resources to match AKS and learner needs.
• Oversee assessment activities and communicate results to parents and teachers.
• Provide clear learning objectives and connect content to prior knowledge and real-world applications.
• Organize content logically and in blocks/steps; follow structured instructional plans.
• Use evidence-based instructional strategies and provide feedback to students and parents.
• Provide formative and summative assessments and maintain records.
