Job summary

RESTORATIVE ACADEMY in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the General Curriculum to provide direct instructional services to students in a small-class setting (about 10 students).

You will employ specialized instructional strategies for students with disabilities, coordinate with base schools, monitor progress, and maintain accurate records while upholding high behavioral and academic standards in line with IEPs and district guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with a special education endorsement in general curriculum.
• Experience working with students who need behavioral and/or mental health support.
• Ability to work in small class settings (approx. 10 students) and provide direct instructional support.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional services to students placed at Restorative Academy.
• Employ special educational strategies and techniques to develop skills.
• Modify the general education curriculum for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with base school teachers to monitor progress and support transitions.
• Maintain records measuring student achievement and confidentiality.
• Communicate with parents, students, staff, and community members professionally.
