Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a dedicated special education classroom teacher to support students under the Extended Resource service pathway. You will adapt lessons, monitor progress, and collaborate with staff to meet each student’s IEP goals.

You will work under the building principal or program manager, using district guidelines and compliance requirements to ensure high-quality education and student safety. Washington state certs are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and prepared to teach a culturally, racially, and economically diverse urban student population.

Responsibilities

• Foster an educational environment and design instructional programs meeting individual needs.
• Use instructional methods and materials suited to students and curriculum objectives; pursue professional growth.
• Establish classroom policies guiding behavior and provide guidance and discipline as needed.
• Communicate with students, parents/guardians, and staff to support achievement.
• Set goals for special education students and monitor progress and file reports for parents.
