Job summary

Instituto Justice and Leadership Academy (IJLA) seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with disabilities in alignment with CPS/ISBE. You will deliver individualized instruction, develop IEPs, and promote social-emotional growth in a caring, project-based setting.

Responsibilities include lesson design, progress monitoring, family collaboration, and adherence to mandated requirements while fostering inclusive learning for 16–21 year olds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in special education and/or core area content.
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) in required area.
• Reading and/or ESL/Bilingual endorsement a plus.
• Five years of experience working with students with disabilities.
• Familiar with ICTS Basic Skills and Content Area tests and related laws.

Responsibilities

• Design lessons aligned with each student’s IEP.
• Utilize adaptive devices/technology for content access.
• Develop and implement IEPs and transition/behavior plans.
• Assess progress with appropriate tools for academics and behavior.
• Modify materials to fit student needs and ensure accessibility.
• Collaborate with teachers, social workers, and deans to support success.
• Lead participation in IEP meetings and document progress.
• Maintain compliance with CPS/IJLA requirements and records.
