Job summary

JCFS Chicago is seeking a Special Education Teacher to work with a dedicated therapeutic team for K-12+ students with diverse emotional, social, and academic needs.

You will develop IEP-based curricula, collaborate with parents and school districts, and support wrap-around services. A Bachelor's in Special Education and ISBE LBS1 certification are required, with proficiency in MS Office and IEP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education from an accredited college or university.
• ISBE Special Education Teacher certification (LBS1/Type 10).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Chicago Public School IEP systems.
• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training required.
• Experience with students with special needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized curriculum and therapeutic programming aligned to each student’s IEP.
• Provide classroom management that reflects student characteristics and needs.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to implement an IEP-driven program.
• Maintain a safe, healthy classroom environment and complete weekly reports and IEP documentation.
