Qualifications

• Meet Georgia certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
• Bachelor's Degree in applicable field of education from PSC approved college or university.
• Previous teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide learning experiences based on the district's AKS curriculum and support students' development.
• Demonstrate command of the subject being taught and provide instruction aligned to IEPs.
• Consult with teachers/administrators to develop and maintain academic and behavioral plans.
• Participate as a regular faculty member and share duties with colleagues.
• Lead in-service programs on special education, IDEA, and related topics.
• Collaborate with regular educators to support students with disabilities in regular classrooms.
• Develop instructional objectives based on AKS and plan instruction to promote mastery.
• Evaluate and modify resources to match AKS and learner needs.
• Oversee assessment activities and communicate results to parents and teachers.
• Provide formative and summative assessments and plan for instruction accordingly.
• Organize content and learning environment to maximize student time on task.
• Maintain behavior conducive to learning and manage classroom environments.
• Assist with physical needs of special education students when appropriate.
• Oversee due process, eligibility, and reporting as required.
