Position Details

The Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to work with elementary school-age students in a highly-structured, emotional support/behavioral management day treatment program at the Watsontown Children's Center. The anticipated start date is August 5, 2025.

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $53,247 -- 71,001, dependent on education and public-school experience. This is an exempt position, following a 188-day work year. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance; retirement options through PSERS; and life insurance.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or special education.
• Valid Pennsylvania teacher certification in Special Education (PK-8 or PK-12).
• Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
• Ability to plan, control, and communicate effectively to stimulate learning.
• Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills, teamwork, and ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with personal computers and email.
• Experience in social services, mental health, or related fields is beneficial.
• Knowledge of positive behavior management approaches.
• Ability to develop positive relationships and remain calm in unpredictable situations.
