Job Description

Required Certificates and Licenses: Michigan Teaching Certification Required. Must have a Special Education endorsement.

Residency Requirements: Reside in any state of the United States.

The Elementary Special Education Teacher is a state certified teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. The teacher must provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs as defined by each student’s IEP. They work actively with students and parents to advance each student’s learning and are responsible for compliance documents required for students with special needs.

Position Details
  • This position is for the 2025/2026 school year.
  • Offers a base salary around $51,000 plus potential performance bonus.
  • This is a full-time, virtual position, typically requiring 40+ hours per week.
  • Must maintain a professional home office environment during work hours, generally 9-5 or as defined by the school.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure all IEP-mandated services are provided, including communication with parents and related service staff.
  • Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and documentation.
  • Lead collaborative IEP meetings.
  • Use resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities.
  • Make modifications to lessons and assessments as per IEPs.
  • Ensure inclusion and success of students in general education settings.
  • Monitor student progress through data collection and work samples.
  • Maintain communication with families and document contacts and interventions.
  • Analyze data to inform instruction, provide enrichment or remediation.
  • Create engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and technical issues.
  • Travel up to 20% for professional development and testing as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license with a Special Education endorsement
  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Receptive to coaching and feedback
  • Adaptability and willingness to embrace change
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Quick learner of new technologies

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the target age group
  • Experience supporting technology use in education
  • Experience teaching online or in a traditional classroom
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms
Compensation & Benefits

Salary is determined based on education, experience, and other factors, generally in the lower half of the salary range. Benefits information is provided upon offer.
