Job summary

The Hughes Educational Center in Danville is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support students in a day school setting.

You will implement individualized instruction, assist with behavioral plans, supervise students, and help with daily living skills while collaborating with teachers and staff to support positive outcomes for students with ID, developmental delay, or ASD.

This full-time role includes a comprehensive benefits package and generous paid time off.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's in Human Services preferred.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Experience with individuals with special needs preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Handle With Care and Verbal De-escalation Training required.
• First Aid and CPR training required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and care for students in a classroom setting.
• Provide daily living skills direction, examples, and demonstration to students at different levels of ability.
• Provide intervention, limit-setting, problem-solving, and guidance when needed.
• Document accurately and timely in required formats.
• Follow student education plans and interventions.
• Assist in managing aggressive behavior.
• Assist in implementation of alternative educational and behavioral programs.
• Assist in identification of social/behavioral issues.
