Job summary

The Hughes Center in Danville, VA seeks a Special Education Teacher to provide educational services to school-age children as part of a structured program. You will address IEP/IPP goals, manage behavior, and collaborate with a treatment team to support student progress.

You will assess learning, document progress, and communicate with families and agencies while participating in professional development opportunities. A valid SPED license and Virginia residency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
• Current Virginia or out-of-state SPED/General Curriculum license; or conditional license with plan to obtain.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Preferred: 3+ years classroom experience.
• Preferred: VA Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Provide developmentally appropriate instruction per IEP/IPP goals and Hughes Center practices.
• Implement Behavioral Program, document progress, and adjust strategies with the treatment team.
• Assess academic achievement and tailor instructional planning to student needs.
• Maintain consistent communication with families and local education agencies.
• Participate in professional development activities on-site and off-site.
