Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking a Special Education Instructional Assistant to support teachers in coordinating instructional programs for students with disabilities. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Six semester hours of coursework in early childhood education (for ESSA Title I schools).
• Two years of work experience in an early childhood setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with coordinating instructional programs for SPED students and IEPs.
• Support strategies related to behavioral intervention plans.
• Plan and organize instructional activities and prepare materials.
• Demonstrate professional and technical skills to support student achievement.
• Maintain confidentiality and appropriate documentation.
• Assist with student transitions and health care needs.
• Support use of assistive technology and AAC devices in the classroom.
• Participate in district staff development and professional growth.
• Ensure safe and conducive learning environment.
