Job summary

Rochester Public Schools in Rochester, NY is seeking a Special Education ESP to provide support to students with needs who qualify for special education services at the school site, and to assist with implementing IEP goals under certified staff.

The role includes instructional support, behavior management, health support, data collection, and communicating progress to teachers and related services staff. Occasional home visits and in-person supervision may be required.

Qualifications

• 60 college credits and/or a two-year degree from an accredited college or university; include official transcript(s).
• In lieu of college credits or degree, the Paraeducator Assessments may be completed.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience with elementary age students preferred.
• Computer skills preferred.
• Ability to work as a cooperative team member.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support, behavior management, and health support.
• Collect data and communicate academic and behavioral progress to classroom teachers.
• May provide services in the home as needed; report in person to a school building when required.
• Follow student Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans.
• Support students with de-escalation techniques and personal cares as needed.
