The role requires an associate degree or higher (GPA 2.5+), 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours, or a high school diploma with a passing GACE paraprofessional assessment; Praxis accepted if before Mar 1, 2007. Valid Georgia certificate and driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher from an accredited college with GPA 2.5+ or C average.
• 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from an accredited college with GPA 2.5+ or C average.
• High school diploma or equivalent with a passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment accepted if taken before March 1, 2007.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in the classroom with instruction.
• Attend all school staff meetings.
• Participate in professional development as assigned.
• Work cooperatively with teachers, administrators, and stakeholders.
• Assist with supervision of students and promote development.
• Serve as information source for substitutes to maintain program continuity.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Use correct grammar in speaking and writing.
• Provide feedback and support to individual or small groups.
• Operate and care for instructional equipment and participate in school improvement activities.
