Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Special Education Assistant Administrator to provide leadership for the SPED program across school-based services. The role focuses on vision, implementation, and sustainability, working with administrators and staff as part of the SPED leadership team.

You will supervise staff, align curricula and assessment with evidence-based practices, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with federal and state SPED laws. Start ASAP with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• License: Requires Director of Special Education License.
• Master's degree and special education administrative license.
• Hold or be eligible for MN teaching license or a MN related license service area (e.g., School Counselor).
• Understanding and direct leadership experience in special education.
• Experience collaborating on special education programming.
• Knowledge of MN and Federal Special Education laws and rules related to due process.
• Experience with dispute resolution.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the special education program.
• Collaborate with principals, department leads, staff, and the supervising director to ensure due process rights and effective services.
• Supervise staff performance, conduct evaluations, and support professional development.
• Monitor budgeting and reporting for special education programs with district support.
• Coordinate recruitment, interviews, and onboarding of new staff.
• Provide systems for staff training and communication across the district.
