Job summary

Sylvania in Minnesota seeks a Special Education Program Administrator to lead vision, planning, and sustainability of the Special Education program across schools. Qualifications

• Requires Director of Special Education License and a Master’s degree.
• Eligible for MN teaching license or a MN related license in service area.
• Understanding and direct leadership experience in special education.
• Experience with collaboration in special education programming.
• Knowledge of MN and Federal Special Education laws and rules related to due process.
• Experience with curriculum, instruction, and assessment in special education and general education.
• Experience with literacy, math, and behavior interventions in special education.
• Experience with dispute resolution.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and technology skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with principals, department leads, staff, and the supervising director to ensure due process rights for all students in special education.
• Collaborate on development and implementation of special and general education curriculum and evidence-based practices.
• Collect and maintain data for staffing needs and federal/state/district reports.
• Recruit, interview, and select new staff in collaboration with principals.
• Supervise and evaluate licensed staff, paraeducators, itinerant staff, and program support staff.
• Oversee staff training and professional learning systems and conduct staff meetings.
• Monitor due process procedures and provide related systems and training.
• Support performance improvement plans and discipline in collaboration with principals.
• Provide professional development opportunities for special education staff.
• Monitor program budgets with assistance from directors and accountants.
• Lead conflict resolution for staff, parents, and students.
• Ensure entrance/exit criteria, curriculum, and due process for students with disabilities.
• Provide technical assistance in assessment and IEP planning for students with disabilities.
• Contribute to program evaluation and district committees.
• Collaborate with certified staff to support students and families in crisis.
