Job summary

Sylvania in Georgia seeks an experienced Special Education administrator to lead districtwide services, ensure compliance, and support student success.

You will supervise staff, coordinate IEPs, manage budgets, and collaborate with schools, parents, and community partners to improve outcomes for students with disabilities.

This role requires strong communication, proven supervisory experience, and commitment to least restrictive environment practices.

Qualifications

• Appropriate certifications and training as outlined by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to work as an effective member of the administrative team.

Responsibilities

• Interprets federal and state laws to school principals, teachers, parents, and the community regarding exceptional student services.
• Manages and directs the daily operations of the Special Education department.
• Supervises and evaluates employees within the Special Education Department.
• Supervises the coordination of Special Education services districtwide.
• Coordinates the development and implementation of IEPs.
• Supports behavioral intervention strategies district-wide.
• Manages the special education budgeting process.
• Supports the grant process for Special Education.
• Oversees submission of grant applications, reports, plans, and other required documentation.
• Maintains due process procedures for special education districtwide.
• Collects and records data for school improvement goals.
• Promotes placement of students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
• Assists with the identification process (Child Find), district-wide.
• Develops and edits the state performance plan as needed.
• Works with Personnel and Federal Program Depts. to ensure recruitment or remediation of PQ teachers.
• Coordinates data collection for special education programs districtwide.
• Coordinates transition processes and preschool outcomes processes; data collection and reporting.
• Coordinates Child Find processes district-wide.
• Coordinates and supports student assessment processes for students with disabilities.
• Prepares reporting for local, state, and federal entities.
• Collaborates with internal and external personnel to implement services and programs.
